Start Now and Finish Strong..

I attended a candidates class meeting today and one of the parents challenged a struggling class on finishing strong. As Christians, we are called to run the race of faith with endurance, persevering through trials and challenges until the very end. The journey of faith is not always easy, and there are moments when we may feel weak or discouraged. However, it is during these times that we are called to finish strong, relying on God’s strength and guidance. In this blog, we will explore the concept of finishing strong from a Christian perspective and discover how we can press on in our faith journey.

When we think about finishing strong, there is no better example than Jesus Christ. Jesus faced immense challenges and temptations during his time on earth, yet he remained steadfast in his faith and purpose. He endured persecution, rejection, and suffering, but he never wavered in his commitment to obeying the will of God. Jesus’ ultimate act of finishing strong was his sacrifice on the cross, where he conquered sin and death for us. His unwavering faith and determination serve as an inspiration for us as we strive to finish strong in our own faith journey.

Embracing perseverance is a key ingredient in finishing strong. It is the ability to press on despite obstacles and difficulties. As Christians, we are called to persevere in our faith, holding fast to our beliefs and values. In the face of trials, we may be tempted to give up or compromise, but true perseverance requires us to stay committed to God’s truth and promises. The Bible encourages us to persevere, as James 1:12 says, “Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.”

We must also anchor Our Faith in God’s Word. One of the ways we can finish strong is by anchoring our faith in the unchanging truth of God’s Word. The Bible is our source of wisdom, guidance, and strength. It provides us with the principles and promises that we need to navigate through life’s challenges. When we encounter difficulties or doubts, we can turn to God’s Word for encouragement and direction. As Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” By immersing ourselves in the Scriptures and meditating on its truths, we can build a solid foundation for our faith and finish strong.

Cultivating a Spirit of Prayer is another powerful tool that can help us finish strong. Through prayer, we can communicate with God, seek His guidance, and draw strength from His presence. Prayer is not just about asking God for things, but also about listening to His voice and aligning our hearts with His will. In times of difficulty, we can pour out our hearts to God in prayer, seeking His comfort and strength. Jesus himself modelled the importance of prayer, spending time in intimate communion with His Father. As we cultivate a spirit of prayer in our lives, we can tap into God’s wisdom and strength to help us finish strong.

Surrounding ourselves with a supportive community is crucial as finishing strong is not a solo endeavour. It is important to surround ourselves with a supportive community of fellow believers who can encourage, challenge, and hold us accountable in our faith journey. We need people who can walk alongside us, provide guidance, and lift us up in prayer. Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” Being part of a Christian community can provide us with the spiritual nourishment and support we need to persevere and finish strong.

Finally, keeping our eyes on the eternal price is the final goal. Whatever that means for you…endeavour to start now and finish strong. God Bless You!
